Mission of the organization ALPA’s main aim is to raise the awareness of prevention of Liver disease in Africa to highlight the size of the problem, and to promote the interests of African people with liver disease, moreover to help other associations working on the same purpose and to cooperate with the different international professional bodies in order to prevent new cases of hepatitis in Africa. Furthermore, widening our scope to include development in the African youth. ALPA’s vision is that all liver patients are diagnosed in time, are treated with respect, and have equal access to the best standard of medical care - regardless of origin, lifestyle, Ethnicity, colors and type of liver disease. |

Social impact Statement ALPA has over 35 memeber states from 19 African countries working collaboratively to eradicate hepatitis in Africa, there is an annual report for all the memebers (visti www.alpa-africa.org) where the number of beneficiaries from the ALPA's activities are over 1 million African as the organizations provide awareness campaigns, test and treatment to patients, women empowerment and work closely with community leaders as well schools. In November 2018 ALPA held a workshop in partnership with the African Union Scientific Technical Research Commission from Health workers in Africa and Heath Ministers and came out with defined recommendations. Also ALPA participated in the African Union Cairo Deceleration for Hepatitis. ALPA's President Prof. Gamal Shiha was elected as EMRO representative in the World Hepatitis Alliance and Dr. Alioune Coulibaly one of the founding memebers of the ALPA was elected as AFRO representative in the World Hepatitis Alliance to connect the organizations and enhance their role in eradicating hepatitis in Africa. ALPA activities various from eradicating hepatitis in villages as the Egyptian model of village free o hepatitis had a huge success and was commended by AFDB and WHO and asked to be casecaded in other African countries where in Egypt it was declared more than 100 villages free of hepatitis. Also the ALPA activities inclued Creating awareness on viral hepatitis among the students in schools, Hepatitis Screening , Community Sensitization, training health practitioners that are all implemented in the 19 African countries of the memebers. |
